Brett McFarland Music

About

Brett McFarland is a Humboldt County–based outlaw country artist and community advocate whose music is steeped in grit, heart, and lived experience. Once incarcerated for cannabis cultivation, McFarland has transformed his story into a powerful force for connection—singing about land, justice, and survival with honesty that resonates across divides. Through original songs, viral music videos, and cathartic live performances, McFarland has built a wide-reaching and deeply loyal community. His work unites a uniquely rural cross-section of the West Coast: Indigenous leaders, redneck ranchers, hippie pot farmers, and working-class folks who see themselves in his songs. McFarland’s music honors the tension and beauty of life in the margins—celebrating freedom, reckoning with loss, and creating space for healing. With roots in outlaw country and touches of blues and Americana, his sound carries both the weight of truth and the invitation to come together.
